Sponsor Support

Our vision is to transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders.

Why Support the GEAR Alliance?

To Build Strong Students

Our students gain valuable real world, hands-on experience and marketable skills. Our goal is for mentors to teach and guide, with the students ultimately being responsible for the finished product. Students spend a large amount of time learning technical skills, including designing mechanisms with computer-aided design (CAD) software, fabricating parts with computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) tooling, designing electrical circuits, and writing software. Students are also afforded many paths to develop their leadership and project management skills.

To maximize learning and growth opportunities, we meet year-round. The summer is used for summer camps and community outreach and to grow all students’ skill sets. Fall is when our six junior teams compete, and the building is abuzz with young inventors. Designing and building the high-school level robot is the focus during the winter. Spring is our competition season and a time to celebrate our graduating seniors.

To Build Strong Communities

To help grow our students into well-rounded individuals, we stress the importance of community engagement. Our team is active in STEM promotion and outreach through a variety of activities. For instance, our team works with the Emergency Family Assistance Association annually to pack and deliver over 100 holiday food baskets for needy senior citizens. We also share our skills through an extensive Summer Camp program for students in grades 4-12. Furthermore, team members attend junior “Lego League” robotics competitions helping run the events or to educate participants about high school robotics.

To Build Strong Partnerships

The GEAR Alliance strives to bring awareness and excitement to science and technology. Community outreach is also a positive way to gain exposure for our sponsors. We participate in many community events, where we talk about our team and what we do, demonstrate the robot, and give community members the opportunity to drive the robot, all while wearing team shirts that display sponsor logos and showing off our robots.

We are particularly grateful for the support of our local school district. The St. Vrain Valley School district is forward thinking and invests heavily in STEM and innovation initiatives district-wide. The GEAR Alliance regularly collaborates with SVVSD to provide complementary robotics opportunities for all students. GEAR mentors and students alike volunteer in the district, providing unique technical expertise, support and helping to develop curriculum and standards.
